Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies this site uses, and how you can change your mind about them.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all; others are optional. We also use your browser’s local storage for the same kinds of purposes, and this page covers both.

Strictly necessary (always on)

These are needed to serve the page you asked for, and cannot be switched off without breaking the site. They do not track you across other sites.

  • Comment cookies — if you leave a review and tick “save my name and email”, WordPress stores your name, email and site so the form is pre-filled next time. Expires after one year.
  • Your cookie choice — we store the decision you made on this page so we do not ask again. Expires after 180 days.
  • Login cookies — only if you sign in to the site’s admin area.

Advertising (optional, off until you accept)

If this site shows advertising, the ad slots are supplied by a third-party ad network (for example Google AdSense). Those networks may set cookies to limit how often you see the same ad and to measure how ads perform. No advertising script loads until you press “Accept all”. If you reject, the ad slots stay empty and no request is made to the ad network.

Measurement (optional, off until you accept)

If aggregate page counting is enabled, it records which pages were viewed and roughly where visitors came from, in aggregate. It is off by default.

What we never do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not set advertising or measurement cookies before you choose.
  • We do not treat “continuing to browse” as consent.

Changing your choice

You can reopen the cookie panel at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page, or by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser (which makes the panel appear again on your next visit). Rejecting optional cookies does not limit what you can read here.

Visitors outside the EEA and UK

We show the consent panel only to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, where the law requires prior consent. Elsewhere the site runs on strictly necessary cookies only, and no advertising or measurement script is loaded unless you open the panel and accept.
